V-GREEN, the global electric vehicle (EV) charging station development company, has entered into a strategic partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to deploy EV charging infrastructure across HPCL’s retail network in India. V-Green comes from the same group as Vinfast, the Vietnamese EV maker brand that debuted in India last year. Vinfast has already announced plans to look beyiond just EV's to two wheeler EVs as well.
Leveraging HPCL’s Nationwide Network
HPCL, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has been progressively diversifying into alternative energy domains.
The collaboration will utilise HPCL’s extensive network of over 24,400 retail outlets to accelerate the rollout of EV charging stations across the country. Currently, HPCL operates more than 5,300 EV charging stations under its HP e-Charge brand and over 150 battery swapping stations nationwide.
The partnership is expected to bring together HPCL’s nationwide presence with V-GREEN’s technology. It must be added however that HPCL's execution on multiple such agreements has been less than amazing, with progress much slower than expected onm estabishing these charging networks due to infrastructure and logitical issues.
V-GREEN’s Global Footprint
Founded by Pham Nhat Vuong, the billionaire entrepreneur behind VinFast, V-GREEN operates approximately 150,000 charging ports in Vietnam and has expanded operations to Indonesia and the Philippines. This partnership marks V-GREEN’s entry into the Indian market.
Toward a Comprehensive EV Ecosystem
The partnership plays a vital role in V-GREEN and VinFast’s broader goal to establish a comprehensive EV ecosystem in India. This ecosystem will encompass vehicle manufacturing, charging infrastructure, after-sales support, and battery recycling facilities—laying the foundation for a sustainable and future-ready electric mobility framework.
