Torrent Green Energy Private, a subsidiary of Torrent Power has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for setting up of 300 MW Wind power project under Wind Tranche-XVIII. Torrent Green Energy secured the project from SECI at a tariff of ₹ 3.97/unit.

This project is to be commissioned within 24 months from the date of execution of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) at an estimated investment of about ₹ 2,650 Crores. SECI released the tender for this project in March 2025 and declared the results in four months. Additionally, SECI awarded 300 MW out of the 600 MW project. Originally, SECI released a tender for 300 MW but was later revised to a 600 MW project.

The company said in a regulatory filing about the nature of the award, “Torrent Green Energy secured the Letter of Award (LoA) for a wind power project for 300 MW (175 MW + 125 MW) under tariff-based Competitive Bid Route.  With this project, Torrent’s renewable capacity under development increases to 3.3 GWp. In addition to a balanced wind and solar portfolio, it is also working on other Green Energy pathways of Pumped Hydro and Green Hydrogen.”

Previous Tender: A Brief Comparison

SECI’s latest wind tender offered a higher tariff compared to previous auctions. In contrast, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) recently awarded its 250 MW (Phase IX) grid-connected wind tender to KPI Green Energy, Juniper Green Energy, JGRJ Four Renewable (Jakson Green), and Inox Neo Energies (Inox Clean Energy). The tender also included a greenshoe option for an additional 250 MW in Gujarat.

Among the winners, KPI Green Energy secured the largest share—100 MW—at the lowest quoted tariff of ₹3.64/kWh. Whereas, Juniper Green Energy and JGRJ Four Renewable won 50 MW each at ₹3.65/kWh and ₹3.66/kWh, respectively. Inox Neo Energies was allocated 50 MW of the 100 MW it bid for at ₹3.66/kWh under the bucket-filling method.
