Tender for DSIR’s 1000 MW Solar Project likely in August

Out of the planned 5000 MW of solar power project establishment in DSIR, the authorities decided to roll out 1000 MW tender as the first phase of the project. The overall cost of power plant project is estimated at Rs 25,000 crore and spread across 11000 hectares.

Government is likely to roll out the 1000 MW Solar Power Plant Tender in Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) of Gujarat in August.

Out of the planned 5000 MW of solar power project establishment in DSIR, the authorities decided to roll out 1000 MW tender as the first phase of the project. The overall cost of power plant project is estimated at Rs 25,000 crore and spread across 11000 hectares.

Commenting on the matter, Dholera Industrial City Development Corporation (DICDC), MD, Jai Prakash Shivahare told to media that, “This is going to be the largest single-location ultra mega solar park of 5,000 MW in the country. We are hopeful of inviting bids for the first 1,000 MW in the next one month.”

Also, the project will be implemented by Gujarat Power Corporation, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam, Gujarat Electric Transmission Corporation and Solar Energy Corporation of India. The project is also said to have benefitting from the present advantageous market conditions.

The authorities also uphold the decent employment opportunities in the region. According to DICDC’s Shivahare, the project is expected to generate more than 20,000 jobs in the region.

Gujarat Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, MK Das said, “We expect very good response as the capacity we are offering is massive, which will not only give economies of scale to the developers, but also benefit from the development happening in the Dholera region”.

Besides this solar project in DSIR a 200 MW wind power plant is also planned which would expect an investment of about Rs 1,400 crore.
