TGREDCO has planned to install rooftop solar in these villages.
The Telangana government has now planned to solarise 80 model villages. The state nodal agency–Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd (TGREDCO), has also issued a tender in this regard. As per the plan, these villages will soon be equipped with rooftop solar to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels.
The tender outlines establishing 2 kW on-grid rooftop solar systems with a cumulative capacity of 80.7 MW. The Telangana government has planned to deploy these smaller decentralized projects for 40,349 domestic services in 80 model villages.
Key Technical Details
As per the TGREDCO tender, the project mandates the use of Mono-PERC-based solar modules with compliance with the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR). All systems are to be installed under net metering and integrated into existing grid-connected domestic households.
The tender also obligated the successful bidders to ensure a 5-year Comprehensive Maintenance Contract (CMC). The service response times under the tender have been capped at 72 hours for repairs or replacements. Additionally, bidders are expected to supply SIM cards with data packages for the first three years, and all inverters must be equipped with Wi-Fi and SIM compatibility for remote monitoring.
Phased Roll-Out in Four Clusters
TGREDCO has divided the work into four main clusters—Bonakal Mandal, Kodangal Mandal, TGNPDCL, and TGSPDCL, each encompassing a defined number of villages and services. Two successful bidders will be finalised per cluster, with the lowest (L1) bidder awarded 60% of the project and the second-lowest (L2) bidder awarded 40%, conditional on matching the L1 price. No single bidder may be awarded more than one cluster.
Completion Timeline and Penalties
The installation must be completed within 180 days from the date of the work order, with progressive targets—10% in 30 days, 25% in 60 days, and up to 85% within 150 days. The last day to submit the tenders for the project in July 24.
