Telangana agriculture minister T Nageswar Rao inaugurated a 10.5 MW solar plant set up by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) at Ramavaram in Kothagudem town on 25th February.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), the minister spoke of the insurance scheme plans to provide cover for over 43 thousand regular workers working in Singareni Coal Collieries Limited. He also informed that the government plans to launch the free supply of household electricity for up to 200 units and an LPG cylinder for 500 rupees in a day or two.

He said that this is part of the implementation under the six guarantees and added that consumers will not have to pay any electricity bill up to 200 units from March onwards. He further said a notification for filling up 464 jobs was issued, and the maximum age limit was increased to 40 years from 35 for compassionate appointments.

He also made it clear that the government will not allow coal blocks in the Singareni area for private companies. Singareni produced 67 million tons of coal last year and planned to produce 70 million tons of coal in the current financial year.

Last year, in 2023 Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) issued a tender for the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 67.5 MW (AC) ground-based solar PV power plant along with 10 years plant O&M at SCCL. The Minimum Average Annual Turnover (MAAT) of the bidder in the last three financial years should be Rs.132,00,00,000.
