The Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, has sanctioned financial support to M/s Electrowaves Electronics, Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh, for the commercialisation of indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured electric vehicle (EV) chargers.
The initiative advances India’s clean mobility mission and supports the national goal of self-reliance under Atmanirbhar Bharat by reducing dependence on imported charging technologies.
Indigenous Innovation in EV Charging
Electrowaves Electronics has successfully developed in-house AC and DC fast chargers, along with critical components including Power Modules, Insulation Monitoring Devices, and Communication Controllers.
Its DC fast charger lineup ranges from 30 to 240 kW, offering scalable options for commercial and public EV charging infrastructure.
The company’s proprietary technology stack features 15 kW and 30 kW power converter modules with an output range of 100–1000 VDC and a maximum current capacity of 100A.
The Universal DC Charge Controller incorporates a comprehensive Human Machine Interface (HMI) design for efficient operation and management. In addition, the company has also developed AC Type-2 chargers suitable for both domestic and commercial installations, enhancing access to high-performance, indigenously developed EV charging systems across India.
Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, said, “The company’s efforts in developing and commercialising indigenous EV chargers reflect India’s commitment to innovation-driven self-reliance. Such projects enhance energy security, reinforce sustainable industrial growth, and accelerate the nation’s transition toward clean mobility.”
Promoters of Electrowaves Electronics expressed gratitude to TDB, emphasising that the financial assistance will enable them to expand their manufacturing capacity and strengthen India’s clean energy ecosystem.
Advancing the Make in India Mission
This initiative reinforces TDB’s mission to foster indigenous technological advancement and high-value manufacturing in next-generation transportation systems. By supporting projects that align with the Make in India campaign, TDB continues to drive growth in India’s EV infrastructure and contribute to a sustainable, self-reliant energy future.
