Tata Power, VECV Partner to Accelerate Electric Truck and Bus Adoption

Tata Power and VECV Partner to Accelerate Electric Truck and Bus Adoption in India

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL) and VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) have announced a collaboration to accelerate the adoption of electric commercial vehicles in India, with a focus on the recently launched Eicher Pro X range of Small Commercial Vehicles. TPEVCSL is a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), which is a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited.

Pushing for Electric Trucks and Buses

The MoU will focus on both companies collaborating on multiple fronts to support truck and bus operators, helping them introduce electric vehicles in their operations.

Tata Power brings to the table its EV charging infrastructure and expertise in providing customised charging solutions. On the other hand, VECV will contribute its domain expertise in energy efficiency to optimise energy usage in electric trucks, ensuring that the vehicles meet the specific needs of end-users and their applications.

Together, they will actively engage with Eicher Trucks and Buses customers to assist in their transition to electric mobility

Tackling Challenges

The partnership will focus on developing and implementing innovative solutions to address specific challenges such as range anxiety, charging infrastructure availability, and related costs. The collaboration also aims at facilitating the deployment of other models in Eicher’s broad electric vehicle portfolio.

With a focus on addressing critical factors that influence the adoption of electric trucks and electric buses, this partnership represents a transformative step towards modernizing India’s commercial mobility landscape, Tata Power said in a statement. 

Expanding Tata Charging Network

Serving over 4 lakh registered customers, Tata Power has expanded its EV Charging network under the brand name of EZ Charge to over 1.5 lakh home chargers, more than 5,500 public, semi-public, and fleet charging points. In addition, it has over 1,200 operational e-bus charging points across 630+ cities and towns. 

Recently, on World EV Day, Tata inaugurated Mumbai’s first premium, large-scale EV charging hub under the TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative.
