Tata Elxsi-Infineon Pact Targets Safer EVs Amid Surging India Sales By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Thu, Jun 19th, 2025 Highlights : Tata Elxsi and Infineon will work closely to develop high-voltage inverters for traction and auxiliary systems, scalable battery management systems (BMS), bi-directional onboard chargers, and high-voltage thermal management solutions for India This will serve India’s fast-evolving 2W, 3W, PV, and CV segments, with future pathways to address eVTOL, energy, and off-highway sectors. Tata Elxsi-Infineon Pact Targets Safer EVs Amid Surging India Sales Tata Elxsi, a design and technology services firm, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Infineon Technologies to jointly develop application-ready electric vehicle (EV) solutions tailored for the Indian market, the companies said on Wednesday. The partnership comes amid a surge in EV adoption in India, with sales of electric two- and three-wheelers rising 28% year-on-year in 2024, contributing to overall segment growth of 25–30%. The collaboration will focus on building subsystems that comply with stringent automotive safety standards, including Automotive Safety Integrity Level D (ASIL-D) under ISO 26262. The goal is to accelerate the deployment of cost-optimised and safety-compliant EV components across two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles. Tata Elxsi will bring its capabilities in system design, integration, and validation, while Infineon will provide early access to its semiconductor portfolio, including silicon carbide (SiC) devices, microcontrollers, and integrated circuits. The companies plan to co-develop high-voltage inverters, battery management systems (BMS), bi-directional onboard chargers, and thermal management solutions for the Indian EV ecosystem. They also aim to support India’s electrification goals outlined by policy think tank NITI Aayog, which targets 80% electrification of two- and three-wheelers and 70% for commercial vehicles by 2030.
