Tamil Nadu is advancing its solar-plus-storage push with a new tender for a 15 MW grid-connected solar project paired with a 15 MW/45 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL) said it will open bids for the project on December 10 and accept submissions until December 26, 2025.
TNGECL, through this tender, aims to set up a solar plus storage project under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) mode. The tender requires the developer to undertake design and engineering, procurement and supply of equipment and materials, and ensure grid connectivity. The solar project will also include synchronization with a BESS arrangement (single-cycle, 3-hour discharge).
Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL) has issued the tender for a project in Karur district, Tamil Nadu. Under the scope of work, TNGECL plans to develop a grid-connected solar project integrated with a BESS to enable energy to be charged and discharged on an “on-demand” basis.
Scope of Work
TNGECL issued this tender to develop the solar-plus-storage project at K. Pitchampatti in Karur district. The project will be developed on 53.72 acres of land.
As per the tender, TNGECL will provide the land to the developer at the project site on lease at Re. 1/project site/year. The developer will operate and maintain the project for the concession period of 25 years. The developer will be required to ensure that the land is cleared and restored to its original condition, or as otherwise agreed, and handed over to TNGECL within 180 days following the termination or expiration of this agreement.
The project also has a designated interconnection point, located at a nearby existing 110/11KV Velliyanai TANTRANSCO Substation, which is 13 km away from the proposed Project Site at K. Pitchampatti Village, Karur District. A Railway crossing is between the existing 110/11KV Velliyanai SS to the proposed Project Site. Moreover, the necessary approval may be obtained from the Southern Railway to lay the 33 KV UG cable for the Railway crossing by the Superintending Engineer/O&M/KEDC/Karur.
