SWELECT Unveils New Brand Identity, Launches Battery Storage Portfolio

SWELECT Energy Systems Ltd has unveiled a new corporate identity and launched a battery energy storage product portfolio. With the new initiatives, the firm has planned to sharpen its focus on clean and reliable power solutions across residential and commercial segments.

The Chennai-based company, formerly known as Numeric Power Systems Ltd, has renewed its brand tagline with  “Powering the World Responsibly”. SWELECT is a listed solar and energy solutions company. 

Alongside the rebranding, SWELECT introduced NUMERGY, a portfolio of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and home energy solutions aimed at meeting round-the-clock power needs for households, small offices and commercial and industrial users.

New BESS Solutions 

The NUMERGY range includes residential systems between 1 kilowatt (kW) and 10 kW, hybrid solutions from 5 kW to 20 kW, and high-performance storage systems ranging from 3 kW to 50 kW for commercial and industrial applications.

Battery energy storage will be central to ensuring grid stability and reliable power supply as renewable energy penetration increases, said Arulkumar Shanmugasundaram, chief executive and managing director of SWELECT.

“Our new identity reflects both our legacy and our future direction,” founder and vice chairman R. Chellappan said in a statement. “While our focus has shifted from conventional power solutions to clean energy, our core values of reliability and responsibility remain unchanged.”

SWELECT traces its origins to Numeric Power Systems, a brand widely known in India’s power electronics and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) market. The company said the engineering expertise built during that phase continues to underpin its renewable energy and storage offerings.

Storage-A New Area

“Storage will play a critical role in enabling round-the-clock availability of power and greater energy independence,” he said.

The company said the NUMERGY systems are designed to improve solar power utilisation, reduce peak electricity costs and provide backup power during grid outages. By storing excess renewable energy instead of curtailing it, the systems are also expected to improve overall project economics, it added.

Founded in 1984, SWELECT manufactures solar photovoltaic modules, mounting structures and power conditioning units, and provides engineering, procurement and construction services. The company transitioned from the Numeric brand in 2012 as it expanded into solar and renewable energy solutions.
