SunSource Energy Commissions First Phase of Bijnor Solar Power Project

SunSource Energy has announced that the company has commissioned the first phase of the 45 MW solar energy project in Uttar Pradesh. SunSource is one of the leading companies in the distributed solar sector and the commissioned project is situated in the Shivala Kalan Village of Bijnor District. It’s an open access project.

The company has held that once the entire solar power project is commissioned, it will be the largest open access project in Uttar Pradesh.

Bram Graber, Chief Executive Officer of SHV Energy, had inaugurated the commissioning of the project. Graber said on the occasion, “The setting up of the project is in alignment with our long term commitment to the country. As one of the largest open access solar projects in Uttar Pradesh, this plant will be a major step forward for the state’s industries, looking for clean power to support their existing and future operations.”

The first phase is built on 64 acres of land and is connected through a 16km long transmission line. The official statement of SunSource says that the entire solar power project is being developed on 164 acres of land. A 40km long transmission line will be employed for grid connection for the complete project.

The official statement said that SunSource will supply clean and reliable power through the state’s power grid to leading corporations in the state including Taj Hotels and Coca Cola bottling plant. The project will offset more than 1500 million kg of CO2 emission over its technical lifetime.

The land for the project was sourced from local communities. The press statement mentions that there will be a steady cash flow stream to these communities for over two decades. There will also be no change in the land ownerships and the existing source of income will not dwindle.

Adarsh Das, Co-Founder and CEO of SunSource Energy, said, “We are excited to begin the first phase of the project, which will support Uttar Pradesh’s growth ambitions sustainably. I would like to thank the Government of Uttar Pradesh and local communities for their support and cooperation in helping us commission this key project.”
