Sungrow Unveils Its ESS Platform-PowerTitan 3.0 By Junaid Shah/ Updated On Wed, Jun 11th, 2025 Highlights : PowerTitan 3.0 offers a 684Ah large battery cell Supports 2-12 hours duration maintains stable performance in extreme environments from -40°C to +55°C Global inverter and energy storage system provider Sungrow has unveiled its next-gen PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System (ESS) Platform. The platform fit for utility-scale applications is available for immediate commercial deployment. The platform is designed such that all functional modules can be freely deployed according to scenario requirements without redesign. Hence, it is compatible with multiple combinations for comprehensive global applications. Features Going beyond the limitations of fixed sizes, the new gen ESS platform now comes in various container sizes. It is initially offering 10ft Flex version (capacity 3.45MWh), 20ft Class version (capacity 6.9MWh), and 30ft Plus version (capacity 12.5MWh). In comparison, PowerTitan 2.0 offered a 5 MWh battery integrated with a 2.5 MW PCS into a standard 20-foot container. The PowerTitan 3.0 supports 2-12 hours duration and Sungrow assures that it maintains stable performance in extreme environments from -40°C to +55°C (-40°F to +131°F) and altitudes up to 5,000 meters (16,404 feet) without derating. Redefining Battery Tech: 500kWh/sqm For large-scale projects that prioritise both high capacity and cost-efficiency, the PowerTitan 3.0 Plus offers a breakthrough solution. With a power density exceeding 500 kWh per square metre, Sungrow claims it to be the world’s most space-efficient battery energy storage system (BESS) to date. 2030 Target No Longer Bold Enough, Look Beyond 500 GW Also Read The system’s compact design allows for back-to-back installation with just 20mm spacing, optimising space use. For a 1 GWh-scale project, this translates into a 45 percent reduction in land footprint and a 10 percent cut in cabling, helping to lower overall capital expenditure (CAPEX). Notably, the 684Ah stacking battery cell features a huge energy density of 448 Wh per litre and a cycle life exceeding 15,000 cycles. The system also incorporates innovative Thermo-Electric Separation technology to ensure safety. The re-engineered the cell vent and internal exhaust layout, using patented heat-insulating layers help prevent thermal runaway from spreading, isolate hot gases from sensitive components, and enhance overall system resilience under high temperatures. Revolutionising the Energy Storage Experience The PowerTitan 3.0 is engineered for rapid deployment – the system supports one-click automated configuration and inspection at the site. As per Sungrow, this would help in cutting the deployment time by 17 days per 1GWh. In addition, the all new version of the ESS incorporates various handy functions. Sungrow’s PowerBidder, for example, is a tool that aims at minimizing risks and increasing profits from electricity trading operations. The PowerDoctor Operation & Maintenance (O&M) tool is another addition that is capable of predicting over 30 fault types with over 99 percent diagnostic accuracy. It also provides guided repairs, making maintenance more proactive.
