Sungrow Rolls Out Micro Inverters For India’s Residential Solar Market Photograph: (Saur Energy)
Global solar equipment manufacturer Sungrow Power Supply Co. has launched its S1000S-L micro inverters in India, aiming to tap demand in the residential rooftop segment. The launch means the market has a much wider choice of vendors now, considering the existing options from Enphase, and recently, Hoymiles. icro-Inverters have been slow to make an impact in India mainly due to cost issues, as they used to come at a significant premium. The entry of Sungrow might mean a push to higher awareness of the benefits from these, besides more competitive proces as well for customers.
The Sungrow inverters are compatible with high-power PV modules in the 450–650 W range and come with module-level monitoring, remote firmware upgrades, and a thermal design that allows full-rated output in high-temperature conditions. The product also features extended-range Wi-Fi for easier installation and integrated safety functions such as AC relays and low DC input voltage to reduce electrical risks.
Targeted For Urban & Businesses
According to the company, the solution is targeted at urban households and small businesses where limited rooftop space and partial shading are common challenges.
Sungrow, which has been in the renewable energy business for more than 28 years, reported a total of 740 GW of power electronic converters installed worldwide as of December 2024. It has been ranked the world’s largest PV inverter supplier by S&P Global Commodity Insights and was named the most bankable Asian energy storage company by BloombergNEF.
10 GW Capacity
In India, Sungrow operates a 10-GW inverter manufacturing unit, the largest in the segment, catering to both domestic and export demand. The company said it has shipped more than 47 GW of inverters in India, supplying systems across residential, commercial & industrial, and utility-scale projects.
Globally, Sungrow has a 465 GW annual inverter production capacity, including 50 GW outside China, and an energy storage system (ESS) capacity of 75 GWh per year. Nearly 40% of its workforce is employed in research and development, supported by a company-owned testing facility accredited by SGS, CSA, and TÜV Rheinland.
