Global energy solutions company Sungrow has unveiled its next-generation residential energy storage system (ESS) at the 2025 Southeast Asia Distribution Summit, aiming to boost energy resilience for households across the region.
The new solution features upgraded MG Series hybrid inverters ranging from 5kW to 10kW, with seamless backup power transition in just 4 milliseconds, active PID recovery, and full-power operation even in 45°C ambient temperature. The MG5/6RL models are already available and compatible with over 50 third-party batteries, while the MG8/10RL variants and the MGL060 battery will debut in Q4 2025.
Designed For Scaling Up
Designed for scalability, the system can expand from 5kW to 80kW through parallel connections, offering flexibility for various home sizes. It supports configurations from PV-only systems to fully off-grid setups, and is suited for grid outages with a backup-only mode, the firm said.
Despite its compact size, the inverter delivers up to 200% overload output for 10 seconds—powering high-load appliances like air conditioners and washing machines during blackouts. Its noise level is just 35 dB, ensuring silent operation.
Triple-function ports
The system features triple-function ports for load management, diesel generator integration, and PV expansion. It also includes a 4.3-inch color touchscreen, dual LED indicators, and AI-powered energy management via the iHomeManager platform.
Sungrow also introduced the upcoming MGL060 battery, offering 8000 cycles, enhanced safety with LFP cells, and independent pack-level optimization.
The new ESS aims to meet Southeast Asia’s rising demand for reliable, household-level energy independence amid frequent grid instabilities and extreme weather.
Founded in 1997, Sungrow has installed 740 GW of power electronics globally and is ranked as the world’s most bankable inverter brand by BloombergNEF.
