Solex Energy and German Solar Tech Specialist ISC Konstanz In Tie-Up For Rear Contact and Tandem Solar Innovations

Solex Energy and ISC Konstanz Join Forces to Advance Rear Contact and Tandem Solar Innovations

Solex Energy and Germany's ISC Konstanz signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop next-generation solar technologies, including the upgrade of Solex’s upcoming TOPCon cell line and the adoption of Rear Contact (TRC) and c-Si tandem/perovskite solar technologies. The move is a welcome push by the solar manufacturer to invest more into research, and look to build innovations out of India.

ISC Konstanz comes with its technological support and patent portfolio, besides a quality pedigree in the field, enabling Solex to establish a dedicated in-house R&D facility focused on high-efficiency solar solutions, the official statement noted.

Chetan Shah, Chairman and Managing Director of Solex, said, "This partnership marks a defining chapter in Solex’s journey to global technological leadership. Our Vision 2030 aims to transform India into a hub of solar innovation with a target valuation of INR 1 lakh crore, a USD 1.5 billion investment, and a 25,000-strong, highly skilled workforce."

India's First Rear Contact Solar Module

Solex unveiled what it calls India’s first Rear Contact solar module, named TAPI Rear Contact (TRC).  Powered by advanced N-Type Rear Contact technology, the module achieves an efficiency of up to 24.6 percent and a power output of 665W, offering zero front shading and excellent temperature performance, Solex said.

The commercialisation of TAPI Rear Contact is scheduled to begin by fiscal year 2027, marking a new era in high-performance solar solutions for the Indian market.

Strategic Goals and Market Expansion

As part of its broader Vision 2030, Solex aims to establish 10 GW each of solar module and cell manufacturing capacity within India, setting new benchmarks in domestic solar production. 

The company also revealed plans to expand its global footprint across India, Europe, and the United States by fostering partnerships with dealers and distributors.

This collaboration with Solex Energy brings us closer to achieving a sustainable energy transition, benefiting both industry and society” 

Solex will showcase its latest innovations, including the TAPI Rear Contact module, at the upcoming Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo beginning October 30, 2025, at Greater Noida. The company is actively seeking new international partnerships.

Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Surat, Solex Energy has a global manufacturing capacity of 4 GW at its Tadkeshwar, Gujarat, facility. It produces PV modules for worldwide markets, certified for multiple international standards.
