Skyborn Renewables has confirmed the signing of the Turbine Supply Agreement (TSA) and the Offshore Long-Term Programme Service Agreement (LTPSA) with Siemens Gamesa for the 976.5 MW Gennaker offshore wind project, set to become the largest in the German Baltic Sea.

Both agreements, which are based on the Master Supply Agreement signed in June 2024, will see Siemens Gamesa provide 63 SG 14-236 offshore wind turbines and long-term maintenance services for the project. The agreements are conditional and contingent on a final notice to proceed from Skyborn.

Project Timeline and Location

Installation of the turbines is scheduled to begin at sea in early 2028, with commissioning also planned for later that year. The Gennaker wind farm will be located around 15 kilometres north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, within a designated offshore wind priority zone in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania coastal waters.

Skyborn secured the initial building permit for the site in May 2019 and retains site exclusivity for the project’s development.

“We are thrilled to see the turbine supply and long-term service agreements coming to completion. It’s another step toward Gennaker’s commissioning,” said Patrick Lammers, CEO of Skyborn. “Gennaker is our blueprint project, showcasing our end-to-end delivery capabilities with a standardised process to bring new offshore wind projects to life every 12 to 18 months.”

Siemens Gamesa’s Role and Technology

Under the agreements, Siemens Gamesa will supply its flagship SG 14-236 turbine. The model is supported by over 16 GW of global orders. These turbines are among the most powerful in the industry.

“With Gennaker, our joint portfolio with Skyborn now surpasses 3 GW of clean energy capacity,” said Marc Becker, Senior Vice President for Offshore at Siemens Gamesa. “We are ready to deliver the SG 14-236 workhorse turbine as the project moves toward final investment decision.”

Once operational, the Gennaker offshore wind farm is expected to supply renewable electricity to nearly 1 million Germans.

The offshore substations for Gennaker will be delivered by a consortium comprising HSM Offshore Energy, Smulders, and Iv, while Allseas will handle transportation and installation.

In March 2025, Skyborn Renewables announced the completion of its 640 MW Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) in Taiwan. Skyborn is a portfolio company of New York-based Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a leading infrastructure investor and part of BlackRock.
