SJVN Secures 100MW Solar Project In e-Reverse Auction In Gujarat SJVN Gets 100 MW Solar Capacity from GUVNL via Competitive Bidding

SJVN Ltd has announced that it has successfully secured a 100 MW solar project in Gujarat through an e-reverse auction conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL). SJVNL said that its bid was secured at a rate of Rs 2.54 per unit, following a competitive bidding process as part of GUVNL Phase XXI.

The solar power project, that will witness an investment of about Rs 550 crore, will be undertaken by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN. It will be a ground mounted solar power project.

Situated within the Solar Park under development by Gujarat Industrial Power Corporation Limited in Khavda, Gujarat, the solar project is set to commence post the issuance of the Letter of Award by GUVNL.

Initial estimates suggest an annual energy output of approximately 252 million units, translating to a cumulative generation of 5,866 million units over 25 years,. as per SJVN, this will contribute significantly to green energy production and reduce carbon emissions by an anticipated 2,87,463 tonnes.

This achievement fortifies SJVN’s growing project portfolio, now totaling 59,872 MW, as it strides towards its ambitious targets of 12,000 MW by 2026, 25,000 MW by 2030, and ultimately, an installed capacity of 50,000 MW by 2040.

GUVNL and Solar Power

GUVNL is striving to ensure that Gujarat remains a top renewable energy producer in the country. The government agency today has a total capacity of 19.65 GW. The installed solar power capacity stands at 10.41 GW and the installed wind capacity is around 11.17 GW. Its rooftop solar portfolio is in excess of 2.89 GW.

GSECL – GUVNL’s subsidiary – has been actively involved in the development of renewable energy sources. It has commissioned various wind power projects and is exploring opportunities in solar power generation. The company aims to increase the share of renewable energy in its overall power generation portfolio.

GUVNL has just invited bids for the purchase of green power from 300 MW wind energy projects with Greenshoe option of an additional 300 MW wind projects. This is after the agency has issued tenders for 500-MW hybrid renewable energy projects that too with greenshoe option for projects of the same capacity.

A week ago, the government company allocated 200MW of solar-wind hybrid auction for 500 WM. Recently, GUVNL invited bids for the development of Pilot Projects involving 250 MW/500 MWh Standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems in the state of Gujarat.
