DB Renews Private Limited (DRPL) has entered into an agreement to supply up to 3.6 million units of wind power annually to S.J.S. Enterprises Limited from its wind power plant.
In a regulatory filing, the Bengaluru-based company said the agreement follows S.J.S. Enterprises Limited acquiring equity shares in DRPL, enabling it to become a captive consumer of the wind power generated by the project.
DRPL has set up a 27 MW wind power project comprising 10 wind turbine generators of 2.7 MW each at Nagral and Hirekudi villages in Chikodi taluk of Belagavi district in Karnataka.
Earlier, on January 28, 2026, the company received board approval to execute a Share Purchase Agreement, Shareholders’ Agreement and Energy Purchase Agreement with Doddanavar Global Energy Private Limited and DB Renews Private Limited. Following this approval, the agreements have now been formally executed for the supply of up to 3.6 million units of wind power annually.
Details of the Agreement
The project has been developed as a captive power plant in accordance with the Electricity Act, 2003 and the Electricity Rules, 2005. It is expected to be completed on or before April 30, 2026.
As part of the arrangement, S.J.S. Enterprises Limited will subscribe to 28,800 equity shares of face value ₹250 each in DB Renews Private Limited, amounting to a total investment of ₹72 lakh. After the subscription, the company will hold 2.08% of the equity share capital of DB Renews.
Other Wind Projects in Karnataka
Karnataka continues to strengthen its position as a key wind energy hub in India, with several large-scale projects underway alongside DB Renews’ 27 MW captive wind project in Belagavi district.
Recent developments include Serentica Renewables’ 336 MW wind project, Suzlon’s 378 MW order from NTPC Green Energy, and a 302.4 MW wind project for Jindal Renewables in Koppal. In addition, Apraava Energy has secured a 300 MW wind project in the state through a competitive bidding process.
These projects underline Karnataka’s growing importance in utility-scale and captive wind power development, supported by strong industrial demand and policy support.
