Shakti Pumps Gets MSEDCL Empanelment for 34,720 Solar Pumps
Madhya Pradesh-based Shakti Pumps (India) Limited (SPIL), a manufacturer of energy-efficient pumps and motors, has gained further momentum after completing the first tranche of 10,000 solar-powered water pumping systems (SPWPS). In a press release, the company said that the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has now opened the portal for the second tranche of 12,451 SPWPS, which have been fully booked by farmers. This tranche is valued at about ₹347.41 crore (including GST).
The company added that the latest order was secured following the receipt of a Letter of Empanelment on August 12, 2025. Earlier, Shakti Pumps had received an order to supply and install 34,720 off-grid DC solar photovoltaic water pumping systems under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana / PM-KUSUM B scheme.
Building on Previous Orders
Shakti Pump explained, "On August 27, 2025, MSEDCL opened its portal for the first tranche of 10,000 SPWPS, which were fully booked by farmers within just 1.5 hours. The total value of this tranche was approximately ₹268.88 crore (including GST). With 22,451 SPWPS already booked across the two tranches, valued at a total of ₹616.30 crore (including GST)." The company said it is well on its way to fulfilling its empanelled commitment of 34,720 SPWPS under the scheme.
Solar Pumps have seen renewed momentum over the past year, as the deadline for PMKUSUM approaches in 2026. More importantly, the scheme's two on-grid components are both getting traction now as both farmers and firms get a better understanding of the benefits and execution respectively. Shakti Pumps is expected to be a major beneficiary of this push, besides other firms serving this market.
