Envision Signs 132 MW Turbine Deal for Fortescue’s First Pilbara Wind Project

Advertisment

Fortescue, an iron ore producer, formed a global alliance aimed at accelerating global industrial decarbonisation and building the lowest-cost, 24/7 clean energy systems capable of outcompeting fossil fuels. Building on this partnership, Envision Energy and Fortescue have also signed a 132 MW turbine supply agreement for Fortescue's first major wind project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Envision will supply its state-of-the-art EN182-7.8MW turbines, known for their high efficiency and adaptability, paired with 188-metre Nabralift steel towers, the tallest of their kind worldwide.

Fortescue plans to deploy 2-3GW of wind and solar energy generation supported by large-scale battery storage. This renewable power will be transmitted directly into Fortescue's electrical network through dedicated transmission links.

France: TotalEnergies Selected by the State as Operator of the Country’s Largest Renewable Energy Project

The consortium formed by TotalEnergies (TTE) and RWE has been selected by the Ministry in charge of Industry and Energy as the winner of the Centre Manche 2 (AO8) offshore wind tender. The consortium will be responsible for designing, developing, building, and operating a 1.5 gigawatt (GW) offshore wind farm off the coast of Normandy. Located more than 40 km off the coast of Normandy, this will be the largest renewable energy project ever developed in France.

Once built, it will generate approximately 6 TWh per year and supply green electricity to the equivalent of over 1 million French households. The electricity will be sold at a competitive price of €66/MWh, as set by the tender. TotalEnergies will be the operator of the project, relying on its expertise in offshore wind and the management of large-scale marine energy projects. The Company will continue the necessary studies to reach a final investment decision by early 2029. Electricity production is expected to begin in 2033, in line with RTE’s grid connection schedule.

UN Report: $1.6 Trillion Pledged for Clean Energy, $284 Bn Already Mobilized

New commitments to boost renewable energy and increase access to electricity and clean cooking technologies by 2030 have brought the finance and investment pledged through the United Nations to US$1.6 trillion, with $284 billion already mobilized, according to the fourth edition of the Energy Compacts Annual Progress Report being released today.

The report, which is being launched at the EnergyNow SDG7 Action Forum on the margins of the UN General Assembly, shows expanding action under the Energy Compact voluntary commitments on both energy access and transition. Of the $284 billion mobilized or deployed since 2021 through the Compacts, the majority has been private sector investment in renewable power generation.

The report cites figures from the 2025 Tracking SDG7 Report that over $4 trillion in total investment is needed annually to reduce the ranks of 660 million people living without electricity and over 2 billion still cooking with polluting fuels, while setting the world on a climate action trajectory towards net-zero emissions by 2050 and averting ever-worsening climate impacts.
