SECI 1200 MW Hybrid Tender

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has extended the deadline for bid submission on its tender for setting up ISTS connected 1200 MW wind and solar hybrid projects in the country under Tranche-II.

The last date for bid submission has been extended to May 7, 2019, from April 23, 2019. And the techno-commercial bids will be opened on the same date i.e. May 7, 2019.

According to industry sources, the tender has been extended because the nodal agency failed to secure enough interest from bidders. Bidders did not come forth to submit their bids as certain queries from their side remained unanswered.

According to the tender document, the tariff has been capped at Rs 2.7 per unit for the 1,200 MW capacities to go under the hammer under this auction.  And as per the sources tapping of tariff has been an issue. There has been a lukewarm response to renewable tenders due to the capping of the tariff.”

During its last flurry of tender announcements on the last day of 2018, SECI had issued a similar Request for Selection (RfS) document for setting up of 1200 MW ISTS connected wind-solar hybrid power projects on a “Build Own Operate” basis.

The tender for the project closed on February 2, 2019, and recently SECI revealed the results of the Tranche – I auction.

Two bidders, SBE Renewable Ten Private Limited and Mahoba Solar Private Limited were awarded a total 840 MW capacity of the tender after submitting bids worth 1050 MW. SBE Renewables was awarded 450 MW capacity after bidding for the same capacity at a quoted tariff of Rs 2.67/kWh. Mahoba Solar was awarded 390 MW at Rs 2.69/kWh after submitting a bid for developing half the tendered capacity i.e. 600 MW.
