Reliance Issues EoI For Procurement of Renewable Power

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has invited Expression of Interest (EoI) for procurement of renewable energy from Generators, IPPs, DISCOMS, CPPs & Traders having valid Inter/Intra State Trading License issued by CERC or SERC for interstate and/or intrastate trading of energy for meeting its RPO.

The group is looking to procure 145 MW of renewable power out of which 55 MW is desired from solar plants and the remainder of 90 MW power from wind and other alternative energy sources. The power that is sourced will be supplied at various plant locations in. Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The company is looking to procure on a short-term basis between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2019. And around 90 percent of the power is expected to be supplied to two sites in Gujarat.

The last date for bid submission is March 25, 2019.

According to the EoI document- “Successful bidder will be responsible for getting all the requisite open access permissions as per the latest open access guidelines and will be responsible for day to day scheduling of the energy.”

In January, RIL announced that it had entered into an agreement to purchase 88% equity shares of Kanoda Energy Systems Private Limited (KESL). In a BSE filing, RIL mentioned that it will pay Rs 75 crore for the ownership and the deal will be fully complete by March 2020.

KESL is a renewable energy services company incorporated on 24th August 2007 having a presence in specialized fields of solar advisory, product design, and technology validation. KESL has recently forayed into engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) and operation & maintenance (O&M) of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

KESL had a turnover of Rs 10.54 crore, Rs 1.63 crore and Net Loss of Rs 81.38 lakhs, Rs 16.54 lakhs and Rs 0.51 lakhs in FY 2018, FY 2017 and FY 2016 respectively. The aforesaid investment will assist in the group’s initiatives to use renewable energy sources.
