Rajasthan: NLC India Commissions 52.8 MW of 300 MW Solar Project
NLC India, a state-owned public sector utility, has commissioned the first phase of its Barsingsar Solar Project in Rajasthan with 52.83 MW capacity. The project, located in Bikaner district, will have a cumulative capacity of 300 MW once fully completed.
In a regulatory filing, the company said, “NLC India declared the commissioned and commercially operational Barsingsar Solar Project in Bikaner district, Rajasthan. It received the commissioning certificate from Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited on August 26, 2025.”
Renewable Capacity Addition Plans
Sharing the company’s renewable energy roadmap in an earnings call for Q1 FY26, Chairman & Managing Director M. Prasanna Kumar said, “As of date, we have 1.4 GW of renewable capacity and generated more than 2.2 billion units of power in the last financial year. Our target is to achieve 10 GW capacity by 2030, and all actions are in place for this target.”
On the commissioning timeline, he added, “In Q1, we have not added any new capacity. But in our 300 MW Barsingsar project, about 70 MW is already installed, and another 50 MW will be commissioned shortly. By September-end, the entire 300 MW will be operational. Similarly, the 50 MW solar project on mine-reclaimed land, the first of its kind in the country, is in the final stages and will also be commissioned by the end of September.”
Upcoming Projects in Rajasthan and Assam
Kumar also outlined progress on other projects. In Assam, NLC is targeting 1 GW of solar capacity. He said land has already been secured for 500 MW, with tender documents ready for rollout. For another 150 MW, due diligence and surveys have been completed, while land acquisition for the remaining 300 MW is under process.
On the Rajasthan joint venture project, Kumar noted, “The JV was formed recently. We are in the process of identifying land and are hopeful of completing this within three months. The projects are expected to be completed within 15 months thereafter.”
