Prostarm Info Systems, an Indian power solutions provider, has announced plans to establish its first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Reliance MET City, Jhajjar, Haryana. The facility, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 1.2 GWh is expected to be commissioned by the end of FY26.
New Manufacturing Facility to Boost Capacity
In an exchange filing, the company revealed that it has secured a 9-year lease - running from May 2025 to April 2034 - for a land parcel spanning 3,912.15 square meters, which includes a covered shed area of 34,000 sq. ft.
Prostarm has earmarked a total capital expenditure of INR 25 crore for the project. The investment will be used for setting up advanced plant and machinery, office infrastructure, HVAC systems, anti-static flooring, warehousing, and power capacity upgrades.
The BESS unit will serve both Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Utility-scale applications.
“This strategic expansion marks our entry into the fast-growing BESS segment, which is a natural extension of our core expertise in power electronics,” said Ram Agarwal, Whole Time Director and CEO of Prostarm Info Systems.
“We aim to become one of India’s few OEMs manufacturing BESS solutions, enabling us to supply directly to EPC contractors and developers, unlocking significant new revenue streams.”
Growing Order Book and Market Presence
Prostarm has already secured notable orders in the BESS space. This includes a 22 MWh order from Adani Electricity Mumbai valued at approximately INR 52 crore for the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of energy storage systems.
The company also received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited for a 120 MWh BESS project on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model with a 12-year contract.
Founded in 2008, Prostarm specializes in power backup and energy solutions, including UPS systems, inverters, lithium-ion battery packs, and solar EPC services. The company operates three manufacturing units in Maharashtra and has expanded its technological capabilities through strategic acquisitions and licensing agreements. It serves sectors such as healthcare, IT, defense, and renewable energy through direct sales and a wide distribution network.
