Hyderabad-based Premier Energies Ltd, one of India’s largest integrated solar manufacturers, has announced the commercial operation of its 1.2 GW N-type G12R solar cell line and the launch of high-efficiency 620 W DCR modules based on TOPCon technology.
The new large-format G12R modules, among the first of their kind in India, are designed for utility-scale, commercial, and industrial rooftop projects. With higher power density, an improved temperature coefficient, and better performance in low-light conditions, the modules are positioned to lower the levelised cost of energy (LCOE) for developers and investors.
“The launch of our 620 W DCR TOPCon modules marks a significant step forward for India’s solar sector,” said Chiranjeev Saluja, MD & CEO, Premier Energies. “As one of the first companies to introduce this technology domestically, we are offering future-ready solutions that enhance returns for customers while supporting India’s Make in India and renewable energy ambitions.”
Key Features of the 620 W G12R TOPCon Modules
High Output: Enables greater energy yield in space-constrained rooftop projects and high-capacity ground mounts.
TOPCon Architecture: Delivers superior conversion efficiency compared with conventional PERC technology.
Rectangular G12R Format: Optimised for higher string power and balance-of-system cost savings.
Durability: Engineered for Indian operating conditions, including heat, dust, humidity, and wind.
Lower LCOE: Higher power density and robust field performance reduce lifecycle costs.
Industry executives noted that India’s transition to N-type TOPCon technology is accelerating as developers seek higher-efficiency modules to improve project viability. The adoption also aligns with the government’s Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mandate for certain projects.
Premier Energies, which has been in the solar business for three decades, said the expansion reflects its strategy to remain at the forefront of technology shifts in the sector. The company has made the most of the solar boom, expanding its manufacturing facilities at a frenetic pace to emerge among the top 3 manufacturers in India. It is also one of the largest solar cell makers at scale in India.
