PM To Kick Off ₹53,400 Cr Bhuj Projects, Khavda Renewable Energy Park By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Mon, May 26th, 2025 Solar Park Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development projects worth more than ₹53,400 crore in Bhuj in Gujarat, with a focus on infrastructure, power, and renewable energy. Key announcements include transmission projects to evacuate renewable power from the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, expansion of the transmission network, and a new ultra-supercritical thermal power unit at Tapi. Additional projects span the Kandla Port, as well as road, water, and solar initiatives led by the Gujarat government. Modi will also inaugurate the Indian Railways’ locomotive manufacturing plant in Dahod. The facility will produce 9,000-horsepower electric locomotives for domestic use and exports. The Prime Minister will flag off the first locomotive from the plant, which is equipped with regenerative braking systems to lower energy consumption and support environmental goals. The new fleet is expected to enhance Indian Railways’ freight capacity. Khavda Khavda has witnessed a rapid increase in renewable energy projects across Gujarat. Companies like the Adani last week reached a total renewable energy capacity of 14,528.4 MW. Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), through its subsidiary Adani Renewable Energy Fifty Seven, commissioned an additional 187.5 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity at Khavda in Gujarat, the company said in a regulatory filing. Other companies like NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy also declared the commercial operation of the final 60 MW capacity of its 150 MW Gujarat Solar PV Project, marking the full commissioning of the project in Limbdi, Gujarat. This solar venture was awarded under the GUVNL 500 MW Solar (Phase XII) tender. This follows the earlier commissioning of the first 60 MW on July 29, 2024, and the second 30 MW on December 11, 2024. With this milestone, the entire 150 MW capacity of the Gujarat Solar PV Project is now operational.
