PERC Extends Settlement Period For Rooftop Solar To 31st March 2025

PERC Extends Settlement Period For Rooftop Solar To 31st March 2025

Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) recently amended the grid interactive rooftop solar photo voltaic systems) regulations, 2021. This regulation is also called the (Grid Interactive Rooftop Solar Photo Voltaic Systems) Regulations, 2021.

PERC in its revised notification changed the settlement period, it mentioned, “The current settlement period of rooftop solar photo voltaic systems set up by seasonal industrial consumers covered under these regulations and commissioned. The purpose for which the applications which were received on or before the notification of PSERC (Grid Interactive Rooftop Solar Photo Voltaic Systems) (1st amendment) Regulations, 2024. This regulation was expected to end on end on 30th September 2024 which under the revised regulation is now extended to 31st March 2025.

the notification mentioned, “In this new amendment to the Regulations which is also referred to as “the Principal Regulations”) extends to the whole of the state of Punjab. The revised regulation 2(za) of the principal regulations amended the “Settlement Period” which means the period from the beginning of the first day of October and ending with the 13th day of September of next year.”

This regulation is applicable except in the case of all cotton ginning, pressing, and baling plants, all rice shellers, all rice bran stabilization units (without T.G. Sets), and kinnow grading & waxing centers defined as a seasonal industry in general conditions of tariff where settlement period shall be beginning from the first day of April in an English calendar year and ending with the thirty-first day of March of next year.

Under part 3.3 of the principal regulations, the following provisos are to be inserted after the first proviso. Provided further that the settlement period, as per regulation 2(za) of these regulations, is expected to be applicable to the rooftop solar photo voltaic systems already commissioned or for which applications have been received on or before the notification of PSERC (Grid Interactive Rooftop Solar Photo Voltaic Systems) (1st amendment) Regulations, 2024.
