Oriana Power, through its subsidiary Truere Knight Pvt Ltd, has signed a 12-year Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) for the deployment of a 50 MW/100 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Heerapura Sub-Station in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The project will be developed on a build-own-operate basis and will receive viability gap funding (VGF) support of approximately INR 27 crore. Designed to provide two charge-discharge cycles per day, the grid-scale BESS will help meet on-demand power requirements and support renewable energy integration in the state’s electricity grid.
The system is scheduled to be commissioned within 18 months of BESPA execution and is expected to generate cumulative revenue of INR 188.61 crore over the 12-year contract period.
Strengthening Rajasthan’s Energy Storage Capacity
The 50 MW Heerapura project marks a significant step in Rajasthan’s efforts to enhance grid flexibility and renewable energy management. Rajasthan, India’s leader in renewable energy capacity, is rapidly increasing its investment in battery storage projects to complement its growing portfolio of renewable energy, specifically solar capacity.
In a separate development, Oriana Power recently secured a Letter of Award (LoA) from NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN) to set up a 125 MW/250 MWh standalone BESS at the Giral Sub-Station in Rajasthan, with an estimated VGF of INR 67.50 crore. The total value of the contract is approximately INR 465 crore, to be realized over 12 years from the scheduled commissioning date.
Additionally, RVUNL recently signed a BESPA with JSW for a 250 MW/500 MWh BESS project, further underlining the state’s commitment to energy storage.
Oriana Power provides solar energy solutions for industrial and commercial clients, including rooftop and ground-mounted systems as well as off-site solar farms. The company reported consolidated revenue of INR 987.16 crore for FY25, with Profit After Tax (PAT) of INR 158.55 crore.
