Ola Electric has begun deliveries of its Ola Shakti residential battery energy storage system, marking the commercial rollout of what the company claims is India’s first domestically engineered and manufactured home battery solution powered by 4680 Bharat Cells.
The company said deliveries of the 6 kW / 9.1 kWh variant commenced in Bengaluru on Saturday and will be scaled up across other parts of the country in the coming months.
Ola Electric added that the technology has been developed and produced within India, aligning with its broader localisation strategy.
BIS Certification for Both Variants
Ola Electric also announced that it has secured Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for the 3 kW / 5.2 kWh configuration of Ola Shakti.
This follows the BIS certification received earlier for the 6 kW / 9.1 kWh variant on January 15, 2026.
With approvals now in place for both configurations, the company said it is certified to manufacture and sell the Ola Shakti system across India.
Technical features
The company said Ola Shakti incorporates automotive-grade safety standards and high-efficiency performance.
Key features include instant 0 ms changeover time, operation across a 170 V–270 V input voltage range to protect appliances from voltage fluctuations, and spill-proof, IP67-rated batteries tested for dust, water, and monsoon conditions.
Ola Electric said the residential BESS is intended to support uninterrupted power supply and improve how energy is stored and consumed at the household level, as the company looks to expand beyond electric vehicles into broader clean-energy solutions.
