NTPC REL has announced that it has secured a bid for a 225 MW solar PV power project in GUVNL’s 1125 MW grid-connected Solar PV power projects. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, NTPC REL announced that it has secured a bid for a 225 MW solar project.

The press statement by the company, ” NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has secured the bid for 225 MW capacity in the tender floated by GUVNL (Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd) for procurement of power through competitive bidding process (followed by e-reverse auction) from 1125 MW Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic Power Projects to be set up in GSECL’s RE Park at Khavda (GSECL Stage-3) without energy storage.”

Further, the media statement by NTPC read that the reverse auction for the tender was conducted on 02nd March 2024 by GUVNL. The discovered tariff is Rs 2.67/kWh and the energy generated shall be procured by GUVNL.

Presently, NTPC Group has 3.448 GW RE operational capacity with nearly 20 GW in the pipeline. NTPC is expected to achieve 60 GW of Renewable Energy capacity by 2032.

In other news, NTPC REL’s inaugural solar project in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan achieved commercial operation of 70 MW on February 21, 2024, bolstering NTPC Group’s total installed capacity to 73,958 MW.

Recently, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed a joint venture agreement with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO), for the development of Renewable Energy Parks in the state of Maharashtra. The company to be set up under the joint venture will develop GW-scale renewable energy parks and undertake projects of this scale in a phased manner

NTPC has also been foraying into the offshore wind sector as Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and National Thermal Power Corporation Green Energy Limited (NGEL) have signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) to focus on offshore wind energy projects. The development was widely expected considering the push into offshore wind, and ONGC’s own experience with the domain relatively among energy majors.
