NTPC REL Floats Tender For 1 GW Solar BoS Package In Bikaner

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) has invited bids for a Balance of System (BoS) package to develop a 1 GW (2x300 MW + 2x200 MW) grid-connected solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The last date for bid submissions is April 21, 2025.

The NTPC REL tender mandates the bidder to develop the project and undertake engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities, including forwarding, transportation, unloading, and storage—excluding the supply of solar modules.

Additionally, the tender mandates the bidder to have prior experience in executing at least one Electrical Sub-station of 33 kV or above voltage level, consisting of equipment such as 33kV or above voltage level circuit breakers and Power transformer, either as developer or as EPC Contractor which should be in successful operation for at least one year/ six months before the date of techno-commercial bid opening.

Scope of Work and Financial Criteria

Bidders are required to meet specific financial criteria based on the capacity they bid for. The average annual turnover during the last three financial years should not be less than:

• ₹75 crore for 200 MW or 300 MW capacities

• ₹100 crore for 400 MW

• ₹125 crore for 500 MW

• ₹150 crore for 600 MW

• ₹175 crore for 700 MW

• ₹200 crore for 800 MW

• ₹250 crore for the full 1,000 MW

Bikaner Sees Uptick in Solar Projects

Bikaner is emerging as a hub for solar power projects. SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL) recently completed the trial run of a 241.77 MW solar project—Phase I of its 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project—on March 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, NHPC Ltd has connected its 300 MW solar power project in Bikaner to the interstate transmission system (ISTS) and began injecting 31 MW into the grid on the same date. The company said in a regulatory filing that the commercial operation of the initial 100 MW will be declared in phases. Full commissioning of the project is expected by August 31, 2025.
