NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has now issued a global tender seeking bids from manufacturing companies. The renewable arm of the NTPC said that applicants dealing with the manufacturing of products used in the generation and storage of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives could apply.

NTPC Green wants to rope in such firms to set up a manufacturing hub at a proposed industrial park at Pudimadaka in Andhra Pradesh. The Indian public utility said it owns a premium land parcel of 1200 acres at Pudimadaka in Andhra Pradesh, which plans to develop as an industry hub/green energy manufacturing hub.

NGEL has planned to develop the land into a mega hydrogen hub with two major components-i) a part of the land to be used for setting up Green Hydrogen plant, Green Ammonia plant and its other derivatives. ii) Another part of land identified to be developed as a manufacturing hub for Green hydrogen and its derivatives-related equipment and technologies (including its storage).

“Creation of Industrial parks/ Manufacturing Hub’s infrastructure within Hydrogen Hubs is an initiative by NTPC Green Energy Limited in line with MNRE National Hydrogen Mission and AP Green Hydrogen Policy. NTPC Green Energy Limited shall process these approvals based on responses received in the EOI. NTPC Green Energy Limited bears no responsibility or liability of any kind in reference to the EOI. This is purely to assess the industry response w.r.t the initiative,” the tender document read.

The company has earmarked an area of 300 acres in the proposed industrial hub for the manufacturing setup. NGEL said that it would provide infrastructure facilities like land, water, and electricity for these projects. However, other obligations like clearances, security, and others would be the responsibility of the developers.

“After identifying the APPLICANTs through EOI, NTPC Green Energy Limited may enter into separate commercial agreements with the prospective entities for allotment of space with the consent of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC),” the NGEL tender read.

The NGEL project site is located near the SEZ Area. However, the 1200-acre plot of NGEL has been de-notified and is not an SEZ. NGEL said that if preferred by manufacturers, NGEL could take up with concerned authorities to notify the manufacturing area as SEZ depending on the response to EOI.

“The objective of this EOI is to identify the interested agencies who wish to set up Green Hydrogen Technology manufacturing facilities and provide a platform through the land and other infrastructure to be developed by NGEL. NGEL will allocate land to interested parties having potential for setting up green hydrogen technology-related product manufacturing facility. The land will be allocated to the parties based on their product merit,” the tender read.
