The tender also offers a Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (CAMC) of the BESS system for 12 years from the date of completion of the Performance Guarantee (PG) Test.

NTPC Previous BESS Projects

Last fiscal year, NTPC Group reported 20 GW of pumped storage projects in the pipeline. In an investors’ call, NTPC and NTPC Green Energy Ltd Director (Finance) Jaikumar Srinivasan said preliminary feasibility reports had been completed for 18 projects, with detailed project reports underway for four of them.

NTPC has also been expanding its BESS portfolio through multiple tenders. Its renewable energy arm, NTPC REL, recently called bids for a 2,500 MW/10,000 MWh BESS project at thermal power stations. Additionally, earlier, NTPC had also issued a tender to develop and test a pilot BESS to replace diesel generators at the Dadri Thermal Plant.
