NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has recently issued a tender offering an EPC package, which includes identifying land for the development of 100 MW Agri-PV projects. The company has sought bids from an expert agency by January 12, 2026, to develop this project.

The Agri-PV model helps address land-use constraints by combining renewable energy deployment with farming, while offering farmers an additional income stream and protection from extreme weather.  NGEL, a renewable energy arm of NTPC, under the latest tender requires the bidder to identify and arrange land and undertake the complete transfer of title or lease deed of the land in favour of NGEL or its subsidiary. This includes developing infrastructure for 100 MW Agri-PV projects, with the agency required to offer a minimum of 10 MW at a single location in states such as Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh.

Under the scope of work, NGEL requires an agency to carry out site selection, soil testing, water requirement studies, and crop selection. Other activities include the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR), Agri-PV system design, project management consultancy (PMC) during construction, and support for onboarding Farmer-Producer Organisations (FPOs).

The EPC player would also be responsible for undertaking the Operation and maintenance of the Agri-PV plant, including agriculture activity, tie-up with FPOs, sale of the Agri produce, etc., along with electrical equipment, consumables and spare parts for a period of three years from the date of commissioning of the full Project.

Scope of Work

NGEL under the scope of work, the agency is expected to undertake the EPC package with land to develop 100 MW of Agri-PV projects. The hiring agency would also be responsible for carrying out site selection, soil testing, water requirement studies, crop selection, DPR preparation, Agri-PV design, PMC during construction, and support for onboarding Farmer-Producer Organisations (FPOs).

Furthermore, the agency will also carry out site grading, clearing of vegetation suitable for agricultural activity, topographical surveys, and geotechnical investigations. Moreover, the scope of the project further includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar photovoltaic plant.

This includes the supply of solar PV modules, reactive power compensation devices, and the erection and commissioning of the transmission system from the solar plant to the ISTS or STU substation, including bay and bus extension, where applicable.
