NTPC subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has declared the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for the first part, comprising 50 MW, of its total 200 MW Dayapar Wind Energy Project Phase-II in Gujarat.
In a regulatory filing, NTPC Green said the project is located under NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Limited through NGEL. This commissioning brings NTPC Green Energy Limited’s current commercial capacity at the group level to about 9,151 MW. With the addition of this capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group will increase to about 9,201 MW.
The latest project commissioning adds to NTPC Green’s renewable energy capacity. Management said the company’s total commercial capacity stood at 8,010 MW as of December 31, 2025. It further explained that NGEL added 2,108 MW of renewable capacity, taking its total commercial capacity to 8,010 MW as of December 31, 2025, up from 5,902 MW as of March 31, 2025. On a year-on-year basis, commercial capacity increased by 4,535 MW, including 2,624 MW from the acquisition of Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited.
NTPC Green Plans Capacity Addition To Reach 5 GW Target
Sarit Maheshwari, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NTPC Green (NGEL), spoke about the company’s capacity addition plans in an investor call, and said that NTPC remains confident of achieving its target of adding around 5,200 MW on a year-on-year basis.
Maheshwari said NTPC Green had targeted adding 5 GW of capacity this year and is on track to meet this goal. Elaborating further, he stated that NTPC has already added around 2,000 MW, and capacity additions over the remaining two months are progressing well. He also shared plans to add around 1,000 MW at Khavda, 200 MW at Bhadla, and 250 MW at Kalasar. In addition, around 300 MW of wind capacity will come from the company’s Gujarat plants.
Additionally, NTPC plans to add around 500–550 MW from its Ayana portfolio. This would take the company’s planned capacity additions to around 2,300–2,400 MW over the next two months.
