2 MW Solar Project

The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has launched a tender to develop a 2 MW solar project at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Tiruchirappalli, located in the state of Tamil Nadu.

The brief scope of work for the selected bidder will include the designing, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, commissioning, and grid synchronisation of the project. The developers will also be required to provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services for a period of five years from the date of commissioning (power evacuation to substation).

The last date of bid submissions is March 1, 2019, and the tender opening date has been scheduled for March 4, 2019. A pre-bid meeting will be held on February 18, 2019. All bidders will also be required to submit an Earnest Money Deposit of Rs 35,00,000 along with their bids.

The selected contractor will also be required to provide power evacuation system to the nearest available Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company’s (TANGEDCO) substation.

According to the tender document, bidders have been given the option of developing a 500 kW-1 MW solar project with tracking and suitable elevated structure, as a demonstration project within the allotted area. However, the lowest bid selection will be based on the price quoted for a fixed tilt system. NIWE will award the project to a contractor who has been determined to be responsive, technically viable and has the lowest evaluated bid.

The Bidder as an EPC should have successfully installed and commissioned grid connected Solar PV Power plants aggregating 20 MW or more capacity in India for the last five years from the date of announcement of the tender. And the Minimum Average Annual Turnover (MAAT) of the bidder in the last three financial years (i.e. FY 2015-2016, 2016-2017, and 2017-2018) should be Rs 4,00,00,000.
