NGEL (NTPC Green Energy Ltd) has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) for development of renewable power parks in the state.

The JV was signed on 4th March 2024 at UPRVUNL’s office at Lucknow for development of Renewable Power Parks and Projects in Uttar Pradesh.

The JV Agreement was signed between S K Dutta, Director, (Projects & Commercial), UPRVUNL and V V Sivakumar, CGM, NGEL in the presence of P Guruprasad, IAS, Principal Secretary (Revenue), Govt. of Uttar Pradesh (UP), Ranvir Prasad, IAS, Managing Director (MD), UPRVUNL, N S Rao, Regional Executive Director (North), NTPC along with other senior officials from NTPC, NGEL and UPRVUNL. The RE power generated from the proposed JVC shall meet the Renewable Generation Obligation (RGO) of the UPRVUNL.

Earlier this year, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, signed a joint venture agreement with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO), for the development of Renewable Energy Parks in the state of Maharashtra. The company to be set up under the joint venture will develop GW-scale renewable energy parks and undertake projects of this scale in a phased manner. The agreement aligns with the green energy objectives of NTPC and is another step in the Government of India’s efforts towards energy transition. The Joint Venture Agreement was signed at NTPC headquarters in New Delhi on 28th February, by Director (Projects), MAHAGENCO, Abhay Harne and CGM (NGEL), VV Sivakumar in the presence of CMD, NTPC Limited, Gurdeep Singh, CMD, MAHAGENCO, Dr. P. Anbalagan, Director (Projects), NTPC Limited and Chairman (NGEL), KS Sundaram, CEO (NGEL), Mohit Bhargava, and CEO, NTPC REL, Rajiv Gupta, along with other senior officials from NGEL and MAHAGENCO.
