Nextracker to Supply Solar Trackers for Greece’s Largest PV Project By Junaid Shah/ Updated On Fri, Jun 27th, 2025 Highlights : Once operational, the solar park is expected to supply 1.8 percent of Greece’s annual electricity needs Nextracker NX Horizon solar tracking systems will be deployed at Oricheio PPC Ptolemaida solar photovoltaic (PV) park U.S.-based solar tracker Nextracker has been selected to supply its NX Horizon solar tracking systems to the 550 MW Oricheio PPC Ptolemaida solar photovoltaic (PV) park, currently under construction in Western Macedonia. Once completed, this flagship project will be the largest solar PV park in Greece and one of the largest in Europe. The project is owned by PPC Renewables (PPCR), a subsidiary of Greece’s main utility, Public Power Corporation (PPC), and is being developed by construction major Terna S.A. It is now approaching its final phase of construction. The massive solar farm is being built on a repurposed former coal mine, marking a critical step in Greece’s transition from fossil fuels to clean energy. Howard Wenger, President of Nextracker, emphasised the significance of the project amid Europe’s evolving energy priorities. “The 550 MW Oricheio PPC Ptolemaida solar project is an important step to increase energy independence in Europe and de-risk capacity shortages for the region,” he said. A Major Boost to National Power Supply Once operational, the solar park is expected to supply 1.8 percent of Greece’s annual electricity needs, making it a cornerstone in the country’s renewable energy ambitions.
