X-Elio Goes With Soltec Trackers For 367MW Utility-Scale Project

Spanish solar tracker company Soltec has announced a supply deal with fellow Spanish solar developer X-Elio for its single-row, dual-axis SFOne trackers to an X-Elio solar PV project in the Spanish region of Murcia. The deal will see Soltec ship 5,948 trackers to the site.

VSUN’s 4GW Wafer Plant Adds a Vital Piece OF Solar Supply Chain In Vietnam

Japanese solar manufacturer VSUN has commenced commercial production at its 4GW silicon wafer plant in Vietnam.

Construction of the plant started last November, with the first n-type 182.2×182.2mm n-type silicon wafer starting production.

Full production of the 4GW annual nameplate capacity is expected to be reached at the end of April, as the company aims to reach a vertically integrated solar supply chain.

First Solar In Tie-Up with Germany’s ZSW For Joint Research On CIGS & Perovskite Tech 

US based First Solar, the world’s largest thin film solar manufacturer using its proprietary Cadmium telluride based technology, has tied up with the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW), Germany for joint research.

The agreement will see First Solar and ZSW focus on both thin-film module performance and the development of perovskite/thin-film tandem solar technology at scale. ZSW has experience with researching copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) thin-film technology, the precursor to First Solar’s eventual CdTe offering, besides perovskite products.

Nextracker Claims First Low Carbon Tracker 

Nextracker, a global provider of intelligent solar tracker and software solutions, recently announced the availability of its flagship NX Horizon™ a solar tracker system with up to 35% lower carbon footprint. Nextracker used a third-party verified analysis of environmental benefits, including reductions in carbon footprint, land use, water consumption and other metrics associated with the sourcing, manufacturing, delivery, and operation of solar trackers. Nextracker also achieved the Carbon Trust Product Carbon Footprint label certification for its NX Horizon low-carbon solar tracker system.

Apple signs PPA in Spain With ib vogt For Solar Power

Germany-based renewable energy development platform ib vogt has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Apple to provide solar power with a capacity of 105 MWac from a project in the province of Segovia, Spain. The PV plant, also known as Castaño Solar, is one of three projects with pay-as-produced fixed price PPAs that ib vogt is currently constructing in the province and is expected to be fully operational in December of 2024. ib vogt is committed to creating a lasting, positive social and environmental impact on the region, supporting companies like Apple to reach their sustainability goals and net zero emissions.
