MSEDCL Awards Contracts for Solar Pumps to Shakti Pumps, Oswal Photograph: (Archive)
The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has awarded multiple orders for off-grid solar pumps to two leading manufacturers, Shakti Pumps and Oswal Pumps.
The contracts were issued under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana (PM-KUSUM B Scheme). Shakti Pumps said it has received a Letter of Empanelment from MSEDCL for 16,025 off-grid solar pumps ranging from 3 HP, 5 HP to 7.5 HP capacities. These systems will be installed across Maharashtra to support cleaner agriculture.
Obligations For Companies
According to the company, it will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, supply, and installation of the off-grid solar pumping systems. The project value has been estimated at Rs 407.51 crore (excluding GST).
“Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has received a Letter of Empanelment from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited for 16,025 Off-Grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) of 3 HP, 5 HP, and 7.5 HP for the entire state of Maharashtra under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana/PM-KUSUM B Scheme. The total value of the 16,025 pumps is around Rs 443.78 crore (inclusive of GST), to be executed within 60 days from the issuance of the work order/NTP,” the company said in a statement.
Oswal Pump's Order
Meanwhile, Karnal-based Oswal Pumps said it has received an order from MSEDCL for 13,738 off-grid solar pumps under the same scheme. The total value of its contract is about Rs 380 crore (including GST).
The company added that these systems will be installed at individual farmers’ sites, with obligations covering repair, maintenance, and RMS services for five years.
