MG Launches India’s First All-Electric Luxury MPV, M9, at Rs 69.90 Lakh

JSW MG Motor India has launched the country’s first all-electric luxury MPV, the MG M9, with prices starting at INR 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned between the Kia Carnival and the Toyota Vellfire, the M9 will cater to India’s sustainable mobility.

The M9 will be sold exclusively through MG’s premium retail channel, MG Select, and will be available in a single, fully-loaded variant. Bookings are now open for a token amount of INR 1 lakh, with deliveries scheduled to begin from August 10, 2025.

In terms of size, the M9 surpasses both its rivals. It measures 5200 mm in length, 2000 mm in width, and 1800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3200 mm. Exterior highlights include split LED headlamps with a DRL strip, 19-inch alloy wheels with self-healing tyres, electrically sliding rear doors, and full-width connected LED tail lamps.

Powertrain and Range

The M9 draws power from a 90 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery pack, paired with a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 245PS and 350Nm. MG claims a certified range of 548 km on a single charge.

Charging options include a 160kW DC fast charger, which charges up the model 0-100 percent in 90 minutes. In addition, an 11 kW home charger, which takes 10 hours for a full charge, and a 3.3kW portable charger are also offered with the vehicle.

The M9 is available in three colour options: White, Black, and Grey.

Tech-Loaded and Feature-Rich

The MG M9 is packed with a range of premium features. It comes with a dual sunroof that adds a sense of space and luxury to the cabin. 

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are provided for seamless smartphone connectivity, while the 360-degree camera and digital IRVM offer enhanced visibility and safety. The MPV also boasts a 13-speaker premium sound system, along with a cabin air filter and wireless charger for added comfort. 

Additionally, the M9 supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) functionality, allowing it to power external devices or even charge other EVs. Complementing the tech-rich interior is 64-colour ambient lighting and connected car technology.

Safety Suite

On the safety front, the MG M9 comes equipped with seven airbags, providing comprehensive protection for all occupants. 

It features Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), enhancing driving safety through intelligent support functions. The MPV also includes front and rear disc brakes for effective braking performance, along with a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) to ensure optimal tyre health. 

Additionally, the electronic stability program (ESP) helps maintain vehicle control during sudden manoeuvres or slippery conditions, further elevating the M9’s safety credentials.
