Mercedes-Benz has expanded its portfolio of electric SUVs by unveiling the all-new GLC with EQ technology at the Munich Motor Show. Set to replace the outgoing EQE SUV, which ceases production in 2026, the new GLC EV aims to become the brand’s best-selling electric model, mirroring the popularity of its internal combustion engine counterpart.
Launching globally in 2026, the GLC EV is poised to compete directly with rivals like the BMW Neue Klasse iX3.
700+ km Range
Charging efficiency is a major highlight: the battery charges from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 24 minutes, and drivers can add up to 303 kilometres of range in ten minutes. On a full charge, the GLC 400 4Matic delivers an impressive WLTP range of up to 713 kilometres.
Powertrain and Charging Time
Built on advanced MB.EA architecture of Mercedes, the electric SUV supports cutting-edge 800V fast-charging and will be available in two configurations for the US market: the rear-wheel-drive GLC 300+ and the all-wheel-drive GLC 400 4Matic.
The single-motor GLC 300+ generates 374hp, while the dual-motor 4Matic version boosts output to 489hp. Both variants can achieve speeds up to 210km/h.
Each GLC EV is powered by a 94kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery. DC fast-charging peaks at 330kW, and the car’s integrated system accommodates both 800V and 400V infrastructures for global compatibility.
Styling and Technology
The latest GLC electric SUV comes with a signature illuminated grille featuring 942 backlit dots framing the classic Mercedes tri-star logo.
Distinctive elements, such as star-shaped LED running lights on the headlights and a lightbar sporting hundreds of miniature stars at the rear, give the vehicle a futuristic aesthetic.
The sloping roofline, finished with an aerodynamic spoiler, and standard 20-inch (or optional 21-inch) wheels add to its athletic stance. Mercedes boasts a low drag coefficient of 0.26, promising both efficiency and road presence.
Inside, the GLC EV rewrites expectations for in-car technology. The highlight is a panoramic 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen stretching the entire dashboard, integrating driver instruments, central touchscreen, and a passenger display into a seamless unit.
The upgraded MBUX infotainment system introduces a refined interface, built-in AI assistant, and returns to tactile control with physical buttons and knobs on the steering and centre console, offering a nod to user-friendly tradition over trend.
