Top variant of the newly launched Maruti Suzuki e Vitara boasts over 500 KM range on a single charge. The automaker also plans to install 1 lakh EV charging points by 2030.

Maruti Suzuki India has launched the e VITARA, its first electric SUV entering India's mass EV market with a certified range of up to 543 km on a single charge. In addition, the company has also announced plans to install over 1 lakh charging points across India by the end of the current decade.

Production is underway in Gujarat, with exports already started, positioning it as a key milestone in Maruti Suzuki’s electric roadmap.​

Key Highlights: Battery and Range

The vehicle features 49 kWh and 61 kWh LFP battery packs imported from BYD, built on the dedicated HEARTECT-e platform with a strong body structure, Level-2 ADAS, seven airbags, and advanced battery protection system.

The top variant provides up to 500 km claimed range with 2WD and ALLGRIP-e 4WD options, producing up to 172 bhp and 300 Nm torque.​

It supports fast-charging, home-charging options, and drive modes like Eco, Normal, Sport, and snow terrain with adjustable regenerative braking. Production is underway in Gujarat, with exports started, and it will be sold via NEXA outlets.​

1 Lakh Charging Points

The car manufacturer is planning to install 1 lakh EV charging points across India by the end of the current decade.

“Aligned with Suzuki’s global vision, we plan to introduce multiple EVs and to support this, our aim is to enable a network of over 1 lakh charging points across India by 2030, along with our dealer and CPO partners,” said Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India.​

Maruti Suzuki has set up over 2,000 charging points across its sales and service network in more than 1,100 cities, planning one lakh stations by 2030 with 13 charge point operators. 

Charging points are placed every 5–10 km in the top 100 cities, with DC fast chargers on key highways. The company has a 1.5 lakh-strong trained EV workforce and over 1,500 EV-ready service workshops, demonstrated via an ‘e drive’ initiative.​

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, MSIL, said, “With the ‘e drive’, we aim to boost user confidence and accelerate EV adoption, working alongside the nation’s sustainability goals for net zero.”​

Pricing and Launch Timeline

Bookings open soon, with sales starting January 2026 alongside Japan debut, at expected ex-showroom prices of INR 17-25 lakh. It competes with the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, VinFast VF6, and Windsor EV Pro. Unveiled December 2, 2025, in Gurugram, it offers Battery-as-a-Service and buyback options.
