The Maharashtra government on Saturday signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth over INR 10,880 crore with multiple companies for investments across the solar energy, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors in the Vidarbha region.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Advantage Vidarbha – Khasdar Audyogik Mahotsav 2026, organised by the Association of Industrial Development.
₹10,080 Crore Solar and BESS Manufacturing Plant in Nagpur
The largest investment commitment under the MoUs comes from Galaxy Solar Energy, which has proposed an investment of INR 10,080 crore to establish an integrated solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility in Nagpur.
The project will be developed in three phases and is scheduled for completion by 2036. The facility is expected to anchor large-scale clean energy manufacturing in Vidarbha and contribute to the region's long-term industrial growth.
GR Infraprojects to Set Up Tower Manufacturing Unit
The state government also signed an MoU with GR Infraprojects to establish a tower manufacturing plant in Nagpur, with a proposed investment of INR 200 crore.
Under the MoUs, the Maharashtra government will facilitate the respective entities in obtaining necessary approvals and fiscal incentives from the concerned state departments, in line with existing policies and regulations.
Highlighting Vidarbha’s economic momentum, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “The region is witnessing historic investment MoUs and commitments, which are fructifying into real investments.”
GCC Push and Green Steel Plans for Vidarbha
Fadnavis said the state government aims to develop Gadchiroli, a mineral-rich district in Vidarbha, as a green steel hub and position Tier-II cities such as Nagpur, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar as emerging destinations for the global capability centre (GCC) ecosystem.
“I am sure that very soon we will announce some good investments in the GCC segment. A very high-profile conclave will be conducted in Nagpur next month, where who’s who from the GCC space will be deliberating and will be charting the way forward,” Fadnavis said.
Policy-Led Growth Strategy
Emphasising policy-led growth, the chief minister said, “We know that ease of doing business and cost of doing business are the two denominators. If we take care of these two denominators, every investment will be a seamless experience. That is why our industry investment and service policy is very forward-looking and futuristic.”
The Maharashtra government plans to roll out new policies for textiles and apparel, leather and footwear, electronics and semiconductor fabrication (revised), aerospace and defence, MSMEs, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices, and circular economy and bioplastics over the next two to three months.
“With these policies, the policy-led investment, the policy-led industry, and the policy-led growth will be the mantra of the state of Maharashtra,” Fadnavis added.
