Maharashtra: Onix Renewable Embarks On Its 1.9 GW Solar Project Maharashtra: Onix Renewable Embarks On Its 1.9 GW Solar Project

Onix Renewable Limited has launched development of a 1,959 MW solar power project under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 (MSKVY 2.0), a flagship decentralised solar initiative by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) aligned with the central government’s PM-KUSUM scheme.

The ambitious project aims to decarbonise rural electricity supply and bolster agricultural productivity, marking a major step in Maharashtra’s clean energy transition and Onix Renewable’s growing footprint in India’s renewable energy landscape.

Project Through 2 SPVs

The total capacity will be delivered through two special-purpose vehicles: NOPL Pace Green Energy Private Limited (990 MW) and NOPL Solar Projects Private Limited (969 MW), both set up by Onix Renewable for this purpose. MSEDCL will serve as the project’s power off-taker.

Land acquisition has been completed across most sites, and project execution is progressing rapidly. On-ground construction, engineering, and equipment mobilization are currently underway at multiple locations across Maharashtra. A large portion of EPC contracts have already been awarded, the company said.

Long-Term Viability

“All development is being carried out in line with regulatory and environmental norms, ensuring both sustainability and long-term viability,” Onix Renewable stated.

“This transformative initiative reinforces our commitment to clean energy, rural empowerment and agricultural resilience,” said Divyesh Savaliya, Chairman and Managing Director of Onix Renewable Limited. “We are honoured to partner with the Government of Maharashtra and MSEDCL to advance this mission. Our focus remains on innovation, execution excellence, and positive impact for all stakeholders.”

The MSKVY 2.0 scheme targets the deployment of solar generation close to consumption centres in rural areas, reducing transmission losses and strengthening grid reliability. The Onix Renewable project is one of the largest undertaken under this scheme to date.
