MAHAPREIT Seeks Developers for 100 MW Floating Solar Project at Tansa Dam

Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Ltd. (MAHAPREIT) has recently issued a tender seeking bids from solar power developers for a 100 MW floating solar project at Tansa Dam in Maharashtra.

The tender seeks bids from power-producing companies and solar developers for the development of a grid-connected floating solar photovoltaic project at Tansa and/or Modak Sagar Dam in Maharashtra. The bid submission will start on January 27, 2026, and the last date for submission will be February 12, 2026.

The tender intends to develop the project at Modak Sagar Dam in Maharashtra, which includes undertaking activities such as design, finance, and development on a build–own–operate–transfer basis. The tender intends to develop this project on a Build–Own–Operate (BOO) basis only, for the procurement of solar power by MAHAPREIT for a period of 25 years. The tender also sets a ceiling tariff of Rs. 4.18 per unit, or Rs. 418 paisa per unit.

Scope of Work

The developer is expected to develop the floating solar project, which includes developing, designing, engineering, financing, procuring, constructing, erecting, owning, operating, maintaining, and transferring (DBFOOT) the floating solar project facilities of a 100 MWAC grid-connected floating solar PV power project and supplying the contracted capacity.

Under this tender, MAHAPREIT has entered into an Offtake Agreement with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for establishing a floating solar power plant on identified dams at Tansa and/or Modak Sagar.

The projects shall be commissioned within a maximum period of 18 months (Scheduled Commissioning Period) from the date of execution of the PPA or handing over of the site, whichever is earlier. For early commissioning, the solar power developers (SPD) are permitted to commission the project as well as part commissioning prior to the scheduled COD. In case of early part commissioning, until the Scheduled COD, MAHAPREIT may purchase generation at 75% (seventy-five percent) of the PPA tariff.
