Indian solar module manufacturer Luno Solar has secured an order to supply solar modules for a solar project being developed at a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) facility in Bengaluru. The module supply contract has been awarded by NTPC Limited, which is implementing the solar project for the research organisation.
According to the company, the order involves the supply of mono PERC-based solar modules. The management stated that the delivery of the modules will be completed within the next one month to ensure timely execution of the project.
Orders for Mono-PERC Modules
Earlier, NTPC Limited had issued tenders for the commissioning of grid-connected solar projects for the research organisation in Bengaluru. Luno Solar currently has an annual solar module manufacturing capacity of around 600 MW. The company operates a manufacturing facility in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, where it is presently producing mono PERC solar modules.
The company is also in the midst of an expansion phase. It has planned to set up a new 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing line based on TOPCon technology at its Haridwar facility. The new manufacturing line is expected to be commissioned in the financial year 2026.
Brand Visibility
Luno Solar has previously roped in Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi to strengthen its brand visibility. Vivek Oberoi, along with Vivek Bindra, had also invested in the company earlier, making Luno Solar one of the few solar manufacturers in India to actively leverage celebrity endorsements for brand promotion.
