L&T Construction Wins 75MW Order For Floating PV On Panchet Dam

Larssen & Toubro (L&T), an Indian multinational company engaged in EPC Projects, Hi-Tech Manufacturing and Services recently bagged an order to establish a 75MW Floating Solar Photovoltaic (PV) plant on the Panchet Dam in Jharkhand.

This plant forms part of the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park being developed on Damodar Valley corporation reservoirs in Jharkhand and West Bengal. Additionally, the Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business of Larsen & Toubro has won multiple orders in Middle East. In Saudi Arabia it has received an order for turnkey construction of a 380kV Substation.

The business has also won substation and voltage conversion orders from hydrocarbon companies in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. In an ongoing 220kV Power Supply Project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), an additional order has been secured.

Earlier this year, Larsen & Toubro Power Transmission & Distribution business’ Renewable EPC arm has been given the turnkey Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contract to establish an 1800 MWac Solar Photovoltaic Plant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The project is the sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Once under operation, the plant will reduce around 2.4 million tones of carbon emissions annually, read a press statement by L&T.

The project is spread over 20 sq km and is expected to become operational in three phases. According to a media statement by L&T, along with the Photovoltaic plant, the scope includes related evacuation and interconnection arrangements including two Gas Insulated Substations, high-voltage underground cabling, and medium-voltage distribution networks.
