As per the agreement signed, the two companies aimed to high-quality develop modules via efficient and reliable materials, which can help their downstream customers to build more reliable and higher-quality PV power projects.

Besides, LONGi and DuPont have also agreed to promote the industry understanding of the value of reliable products and to continuously create value for the PV industry via deep cooperation on product innovation, technology R&D, branding and marketing.

Commenting on the development, Dennis She, Senior Vice President of LONGi Solar, said that, “we are honored to deepen the strategic cooperation with DuPont since the technological advancement of cells and modules requires the participation of the material side. We hope to jointly develop higher quality and more competitive products, create reliable value for global customers, and ensure the long-term return on investments of PV power plants.”

Over the past 5 years cooperation of the two companies, the power and efficiency of PV modules have made qualitative leaps, and the cost of PV power has been declining, now close to the threshold for achieving grid parity, said LONGi in a statement.

“DuPont and LONGi have entered into a new stage of cooperation, based on the common vision of reliability and value. We work together to adhere to product quality and promote the sustainable development of the PV industry. The signing of this agreement marks another milestone in the collaboration between our two companies. With more than 40 years of experience in the field of speciality PV materials, DuPont looks forward to helping reduce the cost of electricity and enabling more regions to truly achieve the mission of ‘affordable power for all’,” said Mark Ma, Global Marketing Director of DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions.

Recently, DuPont in its latest 2020 Global Photovoltaic (PV) Reliability Report revealed that The overall outer layer cracking rate of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) backsheets increased by more than three times as compared to 2019.

The 2020 field report was compiled from inspection and analysis of nearly 3GW of PV installations across the globe, spanning 9 million panels and 551 installations.
