Solar Water Pumps
Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam (MPUVNL) has awarded Crompton a work order for 196 Off-grid DC & AC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS).
The project, valued at around Rs. 4.28 Crores approximately, would be used for the design, manufacture, supply, transport, installation, testing, and commissioning of Off-grid DC & AC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS). The company adds that the project, under Component-B of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan (PM KUSUM-B), is expected to be completed within 120 days from the date of issuance of the work order.
Traction in Maharashtra
Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals, earlier in a Q1 FY26 investor conference call, noted, "In the quarter, we secured the largest ever single order of Rs. 101 Cr. in solar pumps from the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency, demonstrating the continued strength of our position in solar pumps."
The solar pumps category under PM KUSUM has seen significant momentum this year, with orderd worth over Rs 2500 crores already allotted, and a further Rs 3000 plus crores up for firms. The scheme, due to end in March 2026 after an extension, got off to a slow start thanks to the pandemic, especially its on-grid and ground mounted components, but even those are now picking pace. The key question, of another extension post March 2026 should be confirmed by December this year, as the government evaluates delivery and any further changes needed if any. As always, a big issue has been timely payments, with most states slipping past the 90 day mark for payments. In other states, free power schemes have stunted growth opportunities, that even generous subsidies have not been able to overcome.
